Monday 11/
Morning
The first step in my wearable art journey is to create the skirt of the dress.
Afternoon
Today we found out what materials are good for making a dress/skirt
I found out what materials you could put in our hair
I wondered what the top will look like tomorrow?
The most challenging part was getting the bubble wrap to form into a skirt
Now we need to start creating the top of the dress
Tomorrow I will plan and create the veil
The most fun part was seeing the result

Here is our planning sheet and us creating our skirt for our dress.

This is what we got up to by the end of the day

Tuesday 12/8/14
Morning

  • Today we are planning to do the top
  • The veil
  • Joining the top to the skirt to create the dress

Wednesday 13/8/14
Morning

Yesterday we completed the skirt by decorating the bottom of the dress and adding rainbow reflected fabric.
We had difficulty with cutting the strips of fabric.
We found out that the dress got really heavy when we started putting the bottle tops on the top.
Working in a group is annoying because we don't get to do my idea.
Our outfit reflects to our element (air) because our skirt and veil is made out of bubble wrap and inside the bubble wrap is air, and the fabric is rainbow.
The Torbay Learning Model helps us by making us use our plan and it tells us what to do.

Thursday 14/8/14
Overall

Overall I feel proud of what we've created.

The biggest success was completing the skirt of the dress
The most enjoyable part was seeing the result
The hardest part was deciding what to put in the hair
If I was to do this again I would choose earth for my element because there are more things for earth to put on my dress
I have learnt how to create a dress out of recycled air rubbish

This is our final result

  2. This is incredible Ella, Stella and Katy. Well done girls!! The dress is stunning - fit for a movie star!!
I can't believe that not only did you make a dress out of recycling and rubbish, but it actually looks fantastic AND doesn't fall to bits when you wear it! Quite an achievement I think!
Ella I also am very impressed with your daily record. Where did you find the time to type it all up! It has lots of interesting details and thoughts. I liked all the different starts to your sentences. I also especially liked the rainbow coloured text (which I now realise ties in with your Air theme. Good thinking hon! (I know how you love rainbows :)
It is also clever how you have inserted not only photos but a picture of the design. You are very skilled on the computer now.
It has been a great project and I know you've really enjoyed it.
Would you also like to put in a photo of the dress we made at home. I have one but on our computer, but I wouldn't have a clue how to insert it. Do you know how to do it? Or maybe Mrs Kilkolly has one from when you showed it to the class??? Let me know
    Mum xx

  3. I like the information you have included in this piece of writing. You also explained it very well. You could make the words a little bigger.
